HELLO,
I am a Mechanical Engineer who studied Engineering and hold both a Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG). I am currently furthering my knowledge of Industrial Automation by engaging in a PLC programming course run in GMIT. I have gained a lot of knowledge through my studies and especially in the areas of CAD, group projects and communication skills. I have 6 years experience working with Creo/ProEngineer software and experience using the analysis software ANSYS. Since 2015 I have been using Solidworks as my main 3D Modelling package.
I have been working as a professional Engineer since 2013 and have held positions from R+D Mechanical Engineer thru to lead Engineer on projects in the Automation Industry. I have worked on projects that are sole driven to projects that have 5 Engineers collaborating towards a common goal.
Working in the Automation Sector has exposed me to new technologies and also enabled me to gain experience in choosing and implementing sensing and imaging technology. Coupling this with a PLC Programming based course that I am undertaking is helping me to broaden my knowledge of all aspects of engineering including, electrical and controls.
The Industrial Automation Industry is one of the most varied sectors to work in and I have been very fortunate to design machines and systems for Industries such as Dairy, Biomedical, Plastic Processing, Cosmetics Processing and Automotive Parts Manufacturing to name but a few.
Growing up and working on the family dairy farm and agricultural contracting service has enabled me to gain much experience with mechanics and working for different people. it also helped me in planning and taking ownership of tasks, ensuring they were completed on time and to a high standard. Working in this sector helped me to re-evaluate situations and change priorities to keep in time with deadlines.
I aim to keep up my part time studies into areas related to engineering so that I can grow my intellectual understanding of all aspects of Engineering and associated disciplines. I believe that this is necessary for me to strive to be a better Mechanical Engineering and contribute to Ireland's strive of becoming a more innovative and market leading producer of customer goods and services.
Through my studies of Creative Design and Innovation coupled with study on Intellectual Properties I aim to aid in the building of Ireland's innovation portfolio and economic wealth.
I'm available for hire
TESTIMONIAL
"I'm a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with a passion for success". Through numerous projects and years of working with machinery I have gained vast amounts of experience and knowledge.
FAVORITE QUOTES
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”, I have been solving problems and making things all my life, its not a job but a passion.
“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.”, I have gained a lot of experience mainly from undertaking projects or by accident but this knowledge has stuck with me and wont be forgotten but recycled.
RECENT PROJECT
My latest Project is part of my Masters programme and involves me to work in a team of three students and we are partnered with a manufacturing company. The company we are partnered with is JFC manufacturing (JFC Plastics) and we have to design and manufacture a viable product for their product portfolio. This is going to be a great experience as we get to work with an industry leader.
